INTRODUCTION:

Some say that there is no room for politics in godly religion; I contend that one’s [true or false] religion will always manifest itself in one’s political views. You simply cannot have a deeply held opinion (on any given matter) without that opinion reflecting, in some sense, your underlying relationship (or lack thereof) to biblical truth. I would affirm that a Bible-based, God-centered paradigm will lead you to affirm, or deny, many of the political stances that exist today. You may not always act on your beliefs; however, if you know God’s word, you should be able to discern what laws, stances, opinions, platforms, and points of view are in opposition to, or in accord with, God’s word, the Bible.

Some will see a work like this as divisive (especially since I pull no punches); however, I see it as honest, rational, and needful for our increasingly confused day and age. Though the following is not comprehensive; likely doesn’t represent the views of all liberals or all conservatives; is no doubt biased in some parts and over-simplified in others; nonetheless, it should give a general picture of the major differences between the two camps and what the Bible has to say concerning each point. Some, or maybe many, will disagree with my use of Scripture. To that I say, “fine… Feel free to prove me wrong (set me straight, correct my misunderstanding, etc.).” I do not claim inerrancy, though I do aim to be careful and truthful in that which I put forth. At least, hopefully, this chart will open up a discussion on the matter, and evidence why our political affiliations, if we have any, matter. My only goal is to evidence that political stances usually either have, or lack, biblical support. If you are a Christian, it is your responsibility to stand for truth, siding with Scripture, against all man-made error (on either side of the aisle, as God enables). Christians cannot divide their lives; all aspects of it should be governed by God’s word. We cannot compartmentalize our political beliefs, keeping them separate from our Christian beliefs, and think that such a thing is intellectually, morally, or spiritually right to do. If we cannot remain silent, then let us always speak the truth, preferably with much wisdom, all as God enables. May we ask for, and pray for grace, all the more, so we may obtain that wisdom abundantly.

Abortion is the right of every woman whenever she feels it appropriate for herself.
Though there is disagreement as to the existence and/or forms of exceptions, the general rule is that abortion is wrong, it is sin, and that it is the taking of a human life.
Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill [murder].

Deuteronomy 27:25 Cursed [be] he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen. [Note: Abortionists should take heed, seeing that they make a living out of the matter]

Exodus 21:22-23 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart [from her], and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges [determine]. 23 And if [any] mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life

Marital relationships are fifty-fifty when it comes to decision-making; women needn’t be subject to their husbands. The God-ordained hierarchy declares that wives are to be subject to their husbands. Ephesians 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing.

1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

Women should teach and have authority over men as co-equals. Especially in the spiritual/theological realm, women should neither teach nor have authority over men. 1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Women should be free to dress any way they want; men need to control themselves and not expect women to alter their tastes because men can’t handle it.
Women should dress modestly for God’s sake, for their own sake, and for the sake of the men about them. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Proverbs 7:10-12 And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. 11 (She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: 12 Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner….

Women should take on any role they want in the workforce. Though, for the most part, women should have equal employment rights, there are two primary exceptions: (1) the military and (2) ecclesiastic positions such as pastor, elder or deacon (a case can also be made against them as leaders of nations). For the Christian woman especially, the optimal situation is for them to be home-makers. [There is a significant range of views on this matter amongst those identifying as conservatives]
Deuteronomy 22:5 KJV] The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth [H3627 – kĕliy, used often in the sense of instruments of war] unto a [warrior or mighty] man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Isaiah 3:12 [As for] my people, children [are] their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause [thee] to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 5:14-15 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.

Titus 2:3-5 The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Married men and women should be free to look at others of the same or opposite sex; there is no harm in window-shopping; somethings that one can look at, or watch, can spice things up a bit. No husband should be looking lustfully upon a woman who isn’t his wife and no wife should be looking lustfully upon a man who isn’t her husband. Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Proverbs 6:23-26 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life: 24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. 25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26 For by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

Men and women should be equally free to express their sexuality outside of marriage; sex outside of marriage is healthy and normal.
Sex outside of God-defined marriage is sin and is detrimental to the emotional, spiritual, psychological, and spiritual well-being of those who engage in it, regardless of whether they know it or not.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Homosexuality is on par with heterosexuality and should be embraced and promoted. Homosexual activity is sin, should not be encouraged, is harmful to individuals and to society, and simply cannot be compared to heterosexuality (if not simply for the reality of the furtherance of the human race).
Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.

Homosexuals have just as much right to marry as heterosexuals Homosexual marriage is an oxymoron; the very word marriage comes from mari, meaning young woman. Matrimony comes from mater meaning mother. There is no such thing, legitimately and intrinsically speaking, as gay marriage; it is a modern, artificial construct. True marriage is always, and only, between a husband and his wife, a wife and her husband.
Mark 10:6-8 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

1 Corinthians 7:1-4 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

Ephesians 5:28-33 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.

Gender is based upon feelings and identity, not biology; per the scholars, there are anywhere from 31 to 63 different genders; it is discriminatory, sexist, bigoted, and hateful to promote the notion that there are only two genders; Caitlyn Jenner is just as much a woman as a naturally born one and Chaz Bono is just as much a man as a naturally born one.
Your biology determines your gender; there are only two genders; they are called male and female; in English, the pronouns for them are termed he and she; one can look at bone structure, chromosomes, the retina; brain scans, disease susceptibility, etc., to see real differences between the two genders. Only about 0.05% of humanity can be classified as hermaphroditic. All religions are equal [Views vary too widely amongst conservatives on this matter to make a clear entry here; suffice to say that conservative Christians affirm that Christianity is the only true religion, God-ordained, faith and religion].

God is a myth; there is no such thing as God; religion is an opiate and a lie. Most conservatives, and all Christian conservatives, believe that God real. Throughout all of history, it has been the theist (general sense of the term), and not the atheist, who predominantly has been used of God to bring forth most scientific, technical, and cultural advancements.
Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good.

Psalm 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: [there is] none that doeth good.

If there is a God, he or she loves everyone without exception, and just wants us to do good, do right, and that’s enough. One’s religious beliefs should not affect their occupational, political, and related duties. For the true Christian, every aspect of our lives, every moment of our lives, in everything that we do, we should do it Coram Deo, in the presence of God, unto His glory. We have freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion; those who fail to understand this fail to understand history and law.
Colossians 3:17, 22-23 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. … 22 Servants, obey in all things [your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: 23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

The government should not legislate morality; people should be free to do whatever they want to do, what their heart tells them they should do, so long as they do not hurt anyone and/or accept the consequences if they do.
A just government both legislates and enforces morality, through moral and just statutes, and (for the Christian conservative) those laws must be based upon the word of God. Romans 13:1-5 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

1 Peter 2:13-14 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Proverbs 20:26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

It is the government’s responsibility to socialise and educate the children of the nation and the greatest emphasis of means should be on public schooling, even if it means limiting parental rights and choices. The parents have the chief responsibility of raising-up, training, and educating their children. They should have the ultimate say as to the choice of schooling for their children (be it public, vouchers, private, or home-schooling). Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Psalm 78:1-4 Give ear, O my people, [to] my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide [them] from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

Colossians 3:20-21 Children, obey [your] parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. 21 Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged.

Social and moral relativism is the way to go; we should embrace all of our differences; no one’s practices are better than any other’s. Though we should embrace people of other nations, ethnicities, tongues, statuses, conditions, etc. we are not to embrace the evil deeds of their nations or either bring or incorporate them over here. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.

There is no such thing as good or evil [a view definitely not shared by all liberals but by many who reject moral and ethical absolutes].
There is indeed objective truth and thus objective good and evil. For the conservative Christian, and all mankind ultimately, God through the Bible determines that which is good and that which is evil. John 3:19-20 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether [it be] good, or whether [it be] evil.

Equality should be for all; there should be no discrimination; affirmative action and quotas benefit society. Per many but not all (or even most) conservatives, people should be free to hire and associate with whatever types of people they want. If they don’t want to be around certain people, or certain types of people, they do not have to. Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Welfare reform is unjust If one is able-bodied, and can work, and work is available to him, then he should work. 2 Thessalonians 3:10-11 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
The government should help the poor and needy. The government should help the poor and needy help themselves.

People should pull themselves up by their bootstraps; if anything, charities should be used to help others, the government shouldn’t get involved in it. The government should never make laws “redistributing wealth” or “mandating means for aid.”

Leviticus 19:10 “And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather [every] grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I [am] the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

Exodus 23:11 But the seventh [year] thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, [and] with thy oliveyard.

The death penalty is always cruel, unjust, and evil. Where justified, and humanely applied, the death penalty is beneficial to society. Romans 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Proverbs 20:26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them. [Note: wheels as in chariot wheels].

Exodus 21:12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

Everyone should be free to emigrate wherever they want; our borders should be open to all immigrants, with no walls, no temporary bans, no special review based upon nation of origin. We support legal immigration only; those who have been properly screened and vetted are welcome if they evidence that they can become productive, law-abiding members of society.

We should keep out the undesirables, i.e., those who don’t look like us, sound like us, act like us, dress like us, etc.

Biblically-speaking, the general rule was that those strangers (foreigners) who come to Israel, wishing to be part of Israel, taking on it’s customs, norms, laws, and God, were to be welcomed openly and without the slightest bit of discrimination (with the exception of God-ordained temple-worship and related distinctions). However, those who came to lead the nation astray, to pervert the land, to abominate it, or to otherwise change it to match the ways of their homelands, were deemed as invaders and were, at best, driven out. In our day, the biblical example suggests that (within reason, absorption ability) all who wish to live orderly, productively, respectfully, etc., should be welcomed. However, if their goal is to change our society, disrupt it, fight against it, undermine it, set up their own little enclaves within it, etc., then they should be blocked if yet coming and forcibly removed in here and unwilling to depart peacefully.
Exodus 12:48-49 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. 49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. Leviticus 19:33-34 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 34 [But] the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I [am] the LORD your God.
Wild protests, if against a leader or set of policies we dislike, is appropriate. Likewise, freedom of speech means I can say whatever I want against our leaders. Wild protests amount to criminal rioting at best, and sedition and/or rebellion at worst, and ought never to be condoned.

We shouldn’t riot and act like fools but if our President is a “moron/jerk/[fill in the blank],” we should call him/her such as we see fit. We have the constitutional right to mock inept presidents.

Jude 1:8-11 Likewise also these [filthy] dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

Romans 13:1-5 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

2 Peter 2:9-12 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous [are they], selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. 12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

CLOSING POINTS

This will likely be a work in progress as more points of controversy come to mind and as more needful passages are brought to my remembrance. For now, let me state that the above was a blessing for me, particular the passages I listed, because it cut deeply as I had to read them, and put them together. As I was creating this, I began to see how very far I fall short in light of God’s holy law, how lost I would be if I had to meet the demands of it myself. How greatly one needs, loves, and adores the blessed Saviour when given a sight of His holiness, our wretchedness, and His great work and mercy.

I have absolutely no room to boast, esteem myself, look down upon others, or to say unto anyone else: Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou [Isaiah 65:5]. We all fall short, we all have sin (being not only sinful but full of sin by nature), and we all need the grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, and effectual working of God to see us through each moment, each day, each year, even unto the very end (which, for the Christian, is just the beginning). So again, the above work was not to belittle, hurt, demean, or mock; it was created to warn of the great wrath to come seeing that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men [2 Corinthians 5:10-11].

To God alone be the glory, Amen.
