The Warning Against Compromise
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
The Lord declares unto His people “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” He would have us to “Stand fast…in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Therefore God commands “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers;” that is, with those who walk as His enemies, with those who are still in bondage to dead works and false religion, “for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?“
Far from embracing hereticks as brethren, we are commanded to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE THEM.” For the Living God “would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils;” –for– “the cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.” Thus, ” what communion hath light with darkness?” “If we say that we have communion with The Lord, and walk [literally, in, by, with, amongst] darkness we lie, and do not the truth.” If you, Calminian, walk with the Arminian, Sacramentalist, Arian, etc., do you not know that you are walking in, with and amongst darkness? Do you not know that “THE WAY OF THE WICKED is as darkness — they know not at what they stumble.“? “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for LIGHT, and LIGHT for darkness.” Woe unto you “Tolerant Calvinists” who (knowing their doctrine) call the works of false brethren good and the works of true brethren (in opposing the false) evil. Is your “gospel” broad enough, and wide enough, to include what men foolishly call “freewill christianity” (a term that is an outright contradiction in terms)? If so, your Gate is neither strait nor narrow for “strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.“
The Lord also asks, “what concord hath Christ with Belial?” seeing that “…the new has no concord with the old.” Do you not know that “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed“? “What part” then, “hath he that believeth with an infidel?” For the Father “hath made [His elect] meet to be part of the inheritance of the saints in LIGHT” but the wicked “hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for their heart is not right in the sight of God.” Thus, to all who claim to hold to Christ; “take heed therefore that the LIGHT which is in thee be not darkness.“
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, asks what “agreement hath the temple of God with idols?” For, if ye be in Christ, “ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” But God warns of false brethren in the midst, those who bring in damnable heresies under the guise of clinging to free and sovereign grace. For “there must be also heresies amongst us, that they which are approved may be made manifest among us.” Ye, “even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” We have this assurance concerning them: “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy!“
Seeing these things, God commands His people to “Come out from amongst them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and He will receive you.” “Come out of her,” “that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues;” Knowing that “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” So, of those who clearly do not abide in the Doctrine of Christ, and those who are partakers of the evil deeds of those who do not abide, even both of their “sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered [their] iniquities.“
Therefore, “I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” We are to “Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision,” not embrace them under the guise of “erring on the side of charity.” We are to “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” We are to obey the command (not a suggestion, not an after-thought, but the command of God that declares) “A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.“
But how few are the godly markers, how few are the godly admonishers, how few are the godly avoiders and rejecters — be not overcome by those who think that there is liberty in, or love in, or Christian charity in embracing true, unrepentant, hereticks. Nor think that there is righteousness in, or loving-kindness in, or justice in their rebuke of true Christians for speaking out against such things… there is none. Nothing about 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 is optional; those who violate it (especially as a course of their “Christian” walk so-called) evidence their true state before God. Thus, it is of a double-mind to knowingly speak out against, even warn against embracing those who deny the Gospel of free and sovereign grace only to promote those who openly and unrepentantly embrace(d) those who deny the Gospel of free and sovereign grace. May these words serve their purpose per the title.
To God be the glory!
